Upon the recommendation of the American Academy of Pediatrics, a child with any of the following symptoms should stay home:

·       A fever or has had a fever in the previous 24 hours

·       Vomiting or diarrhea

·       Any symptom of a childhood disease such as chicken pox or whooping cough

·       A cold, or excessive or discolored nasal drainage

·       A sore throat

·       Croup

·       Any unexplained rash

·       Any skin infection, such as boils, ringworm, or impetigo

·       Any hair infestation, such as head lice

·       Pink eye or other eye infection

It is standard procedure for any child exhibiting the above symptoms to be isolated as much as possible until the parent can be contacted.
