Prayer Ministry

The purpose of our prayer ministry is to cover our church in prayer, to pray for others
and to help you grow in your walk with the Lord.
First Baptist asks Godly, committed men and women to set aside one hour each week in concentrated prayer
for the needs of our nation, church, pastor, missionaries, and the lost. Those who make this commitment are
supplied with prayer requests of a varied nature through our Prayer Ministry office. Many individuals have shared
that this ministry has resulted in a deeper personal walk with the Lord Jesus Christ as they have drawn closer to Him
in times of praise, confession, intercession, and adoration. If you would like to be a part of the FIRST Prayer Ministry
and commit to spending 60 minutes each week in prayer, call the Associate Pastor's office at 803.343.8560.
Lifting up the special needs of our families is also an important part of the FIRST Prayer Ministry. If you have
a need for which you would like our Prayer Ministry to intercede, call 803.343.8560, 24 hours a day. You may
also submit your prayer request online.
The Link between Prayer and the Spirit
"When they had prayer, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with
the Holy Spirit." Act. 4:31
Praying people are the only people who have influence with God, the only kind of people to whom God commits
Himself and His mission. Praying people are the only people in which the Holy Spirit dwells, for the Holy
Spirit and prayer go hand in hand. The Holy Sprit never descends upon prayerless people. He never fills them;
He never empowers them. There is nothing whatever in common between the Spirit of God and people who do
not pray. The Spirit dwell only in a prayer atmosphere.
