New Church Starts

" ... be my witnesses in Jerusalem, all over Judea and Samaria,
even to the ends of the world."
Jesus' commissioning His disciples, Acts 1:8

First Baptist Columbia is committed to bringing the message of Jesus Christ to the Midlands,
South Carolina, the world! Several years ago, our leadership mandated the planting of five churches
in five years. As a result, 4 churches are growing in some of the fastest growing areas in the Midlands
… Blythewood, Camden, Lexington,  and among the Hispanic population.

VillageChurch ... blythewoodvillage.com
On March 31, 2002 VillageChurch was born in Blythewood. Rev. Erik Estep,
son of FIRST pastor Dr. Wendell Estep, serves as pastor to this growing congregation.
Today more than 500 attend each Sunday.

If you live in the Blythewood area we encourage you to join them for worship beginning at 10:30 a.m.

The River Church ... theriverchurchonline.com
The first service for the River Church was Easter 2004. The congregation currently meets at the
Health Resource Center on Battleship Road near Camden, South Carolina.

Pastor Bryan Plyler serves as pastor of this young church. Sunday attendance averages in the 70s!
This young church is passionately committed to outreach, both locally through events for the community
and globally by recently sending a group to Guatemala. They believe that God has great plans in store
for them as they seek to grow and minister in the name of our Lord.

Hispanic Church ... ¿Habla Ud. Español?
The Midlands continue experience a significant growth in the Hispanic population.
The need for a Baptist church for Hispanics was obvious. Ryan Dupree was hired to not only head up
the FBC Ministry to Internationals, he was asked to start a Baptist Hispanic church in Columbia.

Relationship building is key to growing this ministry. Social events, such as luncheons, picnics
and day trips are planned throughout the year. Classes in English, cooking, sewing and more continue
to be excellent opportunities for outreach.  Today this growing group meets Sunday afternoons for Bible study.
