Feed the Hungry

Since 1990, First Baptist Columbia and St. Peter’s Catholic Church have partnered to provide
a Thanksgivingfeast for needy people in the Columbia area. Each year as word gets out
and as needs grow, the numbershave increased. In 2006 more than 2,000 meals were served
at the Carolina Coliseum. Another 750 meals were delivered to several satellite locations.
Planning begins months in advance with FBC coordinator Ron Paull heading
up the FIRST team. Hundreds of volunteers set up, serve, clean up, deliver food,
and host the growing Thanksgiving event.
Whether you assist financially, or sacrifice your time to serve food or clean up afterwards,
there are people who need your help. Your donation will go toward the
purchase of turkeys and side dishes. (We gladly receive desserts just before
Thanksgiving... especially homemade desserts!) Any donation received above
the need will go to benevolent ministries during the year.
Ron’s involvement with this event opened his eyes to the needs in our community.
In 2006, Ron began coordinating efforts to serve food to the needy on the 4th Saturday of each month.
